Today was “draw a person laying down.” (Although… wait… should it be “lying”? That is one grammar rule I always have to look up.)
The difference between drawing inanimate objects and people is well… They’re people. They move. They talk. You have to ask them if you can draw them. (Unless you are a drawing secret sleuth spy person like me drawing this. So sneaky I am.)
Finally, after a day of asking my mom and sister, the only two people I felt okay asking to lay down so that I could draw them, I got my mom AND Darcy (#DarcyTheDorkyDog) to be my models. I love Darcy, don’t get me wrong, and she IS a cuddle bug, but she WOULD NOT STOP MOVING. Which was making mom and I laugh, which was making mom move a little too… but she was trying so hard. A for effort Momma.
I really think this is a sweet drawing though! Even if Darcy doesn’t really look like a dog. She looks… dogish. I used a size 005 Prismacolor Fine Line Marker. As you can see the lines are quite fine indeed, and this was a drawing that was done very quickly so there is a lot of build up of line.
I tried to keep the focus on the face and the dog, so I left them the lightest.
The hands are definitely the weakest part of this drawing. I always, always struggle with hands!
Bonne nuit and happy drawing!
