Today was one of those beautiful spring days where the sky is blue, the breeze is cool, and the bugs aren’t swarming… A rarity in Louisiana. So today was perfect to draw different types of trees. Even though I’ve always had a hard time drawing them. TOO MANY LEAVES.
I was able to find plenty of variety just sitting on my back patio. You’ll notice there are no pine trees; what ones didn’t fall during Hurricane Katrina we had cut down… Which caused all the other trees to finally get enough sunshine and grow beautifully. Right now our yard is a sea of shades of green. Including the oak tree I’ve been growing since I was five! I got a seedling from a tree in my Mammaw’s yard and planted it in a pot, moving it with me from house to house, until I finally planted it in the ground when my parent’s bought a house about 14 years ago. His name is Oaky. I was REAL original with names when I was a kid.
Here’s me trying to show how tall Oaky is. Of course I walked out there with no shoes on and got about 20 stickers in my foot like the hippie child I am. Also poison ivy is growing at the base of the tree! My yard is so dangerous.
He’s way taller than the house! (excuse my dad’s tree stand… I’m not sure why he hung it on MY tree)
I have no idea what happened here, but it looks like I’m high-fiving an angel.
Get outside and enjoy this beautiful day!
